Festival to celebrate Delta's ‘Plain of Reeds'

Dong Thap Province plans to organise the biggest ever festival in the Mekong Delta region to mark the 30th anniversary of the Dong Thap Muoi (Plain of Reeds) sub-region.  As many as 500 booths in the ornamental plant and trade festival will feature various products and activities. They will review the achievements of the region during the past 30 years and promote tourism in the area.

Japanese quartet fluent in traditional, western styles

A quartet led by Japanese artist Karin Nakagawa will perform a programme of original songs on traditional instruments at Ha Noi's Tuoi Tre (Youth) Theatre on December 8-9. Nakagawa plays a 25-stringed koto (Japanese harp), and has developed her performance style, a unique way of performing the rhythm with her feet.

Vietnamese tea culture introduced in Hanoi ancient quarter

According to the Management Board for Hanoi ancient quarter, specific cultural activities will be introduced in Hanoi ancient quarter from 9 a.m to 4:30 p.m on November 27th 2010 to mark the 5th anniversary of Vietnamese Cultural Heritage.

Saigontourist picked to organize Tet 2011 festival

Saigontourist Holding Company has again been assigned to organize main festivities in the center of HCMC to ring in the forthcoming Lunar New Year, or Tet 2011, according to a plan approved by the HCMC government on November 29.  Highlights of the week-long festival will, as usual, be Nguyen Hue Flower Street, a contest to make Banh Tet (traditional sticky rice cake), light decorations along main streets, fireworks display, and an extravaganza of music and light shows.

Vietnam’s archaeologies to be exhibited at Germany National Museum

An exhibition introducing the development of Vietnam’s history through the archaeological relics of the Dong Son Culture as well as the Thang Long ancient citadel will be held in 2013 at Westlfalen Museum, Germany. Accordingly, the objects displayed at this exhibition will be carefully selected to most evidently reflect Vietnam’s culture from the beginning period to Thang Long Culture.

HCM City plans fireworks and flowers for Tet holiday

Fifteen minutes of fireworks will be displayed at 7 locations and many flower markets will open for the coming lunar New Year (Tet holiday) in HCM City. Under programmes approved by the HCM City People’s Committee, the City’s Nguyen Hue road will be decorated with flowers carrying themes of integration and development.

Taste of the World Festival to open in late December

The Taste of the World Festival will be held at the 23/9 Park in Ho Chi Minh City, from 26 December 2010 to 2 January 2011, in the framework of the welcoming New Year 2011 festivals.

The festival is co-organized by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture,Sports and Tourism, Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, Saigontourist Holding Company and Youth Advertising Joint Stock Company. This is the fifth time that Ho Chi Minh Cityhas held this festival. In 2009, the fourth annual Taste of the World Festival attracted about 100,000 visitors for four days (from 3 to 6 December 2009).
